I’m always keen to chat (in person or by Teams/Zoom/your platform of choice) with undergrads, grad students, departments, or any other group on a variety of topics outside my research, particularly:
- Diversity in STEM fields (including women and LGBT folk in STEM)
- Alternative academic (altac) careers (particularly at a museum)
- Why scientists should study improv
- Blogging, social media, and outreach in science
I offer a seminar tailored to your group (30-60 minutes) entitled Hidden Diversity in Science: Queer in STEM that covers the unique challenges LGBTQ+ folk in science face, the current climate in scientific disciplines, and steps your department can take to make it more welcoming to LGBTQ+ staff and students.
I am also available for corporate events, and have delivered talks to a wide variety of organizations across the STEM fields, particularly during Pride and LGBTQ+ History Months.
I have been a stage actor and improvisor for more than 15 years, and have spoken to high school, undergraduate, graduate, and faculty groups. If you or your group is interested, get in touch.
